Momentum Builds For Zero G's InstallAnywhere;
Symantec, Metrowerks and Other Industry Leaders
Bundle Installation Software From Zero G
SAN FRANCISCO, October 13, 1998 - Zero G Software, the leader in multi-platform
application deployment tools, today announced that Symantec Corporation, Metrowerks Inc.
and two other industry leaders will bundle Zero G's InstallAnywhere Now! with upcoming
releases of their products. This comes on the heels of last month's announcement of a
similar agreement with Apple, IBM, Inprise and ObjectShare.
InstallAnywhere Now!, the entry-level version of the industry's most popular
multi-platform installer, will be bundled with software tools including Metrowerks'
CodeWarrior Professional 4.0, Objectsoft's BrewMaster, Symantec Visual Cafe and TEK-TOOLS'
KAWA.
"This growing momentum of industry support confirms the market need and preference
for InstallAnywhere," said Eric Shapiro, president and co-founder of Zero G Software.
"These agreements will give Java developers a faster, cost-effective way to build
installers to deploy their applications across multiple platforms."
Like all products in the InstallAnywhere family, InstallAnywhere Now! allows developers to
quickly build installers that can simultaneously support Windows, Mac OS, UNIX and other
Java platforms for distribution over the Internet or on CD-ROM. InstallAnywhere Now!'s
Project Wizard interface enables multi-platform installers to be built in six easy steps.
To make this process as foolproof as possible, the product automatically chooses the
application's main class and properly configures the classpath, two tasks that have
traditionally made the process of running Java software difficult for end users.
InstallAnywhere Now! also offers the ability to create double-clickable Java application
launchers with custom icons, making Java software as easy to use as native applications.
Developers looking for more extensive capabilities can purchase either InstallAnywhere
Standard Edition or InstallAnywhere Express at http://www.ZeroG.com.
"Building an installer is the last thing the developer does but the first thing the
customer sees," said Will Iverson, strategic partner manager for Symantec's Internet
Tools Division. "InstallAnywhere Now! is an excellent complement to Visual Café in
terms of capability and easy of use. It provides a real solution for the last step of
enterprise and large-scale application development."
